WHY STUDY SPANISH IN GRANADA?

"Granada, city of Enchantment and Fantasy" were the words of Washington Irving who was captivated by this place. And that is what Granada really is; enchantment and fantasy, from the narrow cobbled streets of the old quarter to the fountains and parks and the magnificent splendour of the Alhambra and Generalife, everything in Granada has a special feeling. In fact the biggest problem about coming to study Spanish in Granada is that you won't want to leave and you will miss it after you have left!

MORE ABOUT GRANADA

Granada is also one of the most important student cities in Spain; there has been a university here for 500 years. It is also one of the country's most important cultural centres, a place where Arabic and Christian traditions fuse. This unique mix and many other factors make Granada an ideal place to live, study or stay for a while. It provides a rich cultural environment with a lively student and university atmosphere!

The city boasts a very active night life with many bars and restaurants to suit all tastes. Bars here tend to close between midnight and 4am, when a whole host of clubs open. Visitors always remark on how special the atmosphere is in Granada. Meeting people is easy!

You can't really complain about Granada's location either. Nestled next to the Sierra Nevada mountain range, the chance of going skiiing and snowboarding is just a short bus ride away. As is the beach, together with the sun-drenched Costa Tropical and Costa del Sol. In fact, Granada's ideal location means that at certain times of the year you can go skiing in the morning and sunbathe on the beach in the afternoon!

Life as a Student in Granada...
OK, so Granada has a fascinating history and culture. But what makes studying Spanish in Granada so good? Here are some reasons:
The Weather - Granada has up to 300 days of sunshine a year. 'Summer', as most people would call it, starts in April and ends in November. If you love good weather, Granada is one of the best places in Europe!
The Student Atmosphere - Granada has a population of roughly 300,000 - 100,000 of which are students! It also hosts thousands of 'Erasmus' students (students on exchange from universities in other countries). All this makes for an incredibly youthful, fun and international atmosphere!
The Cost of Living - It's a well-kept secret that Granada is the cheapest town in Spain. Even though prices have risen since the introduction of the euro, you can live here for a fraction of the price of northern European countries.
Free Tapas - Tapas is a small (or not-so-small) snack that accompanies drinks in bars in Spain. It can be anything from some olives or prawns to a hamburger or baked potato. Granada is unique in Spain in that the tapas is free!
